Aristotle's three critical elements of good communication are ethos, pathos and logos. These are the devices that speakers should employ when they want to engage in good communication. Ethos refers to ethical appeals, particularly appeals to the credibility of a person. Pathos refers to emotional appeals, which try to be persuasive by appealing to the audience's feelings. Finally, logos is an appeal to logic, which uses well-constructed arguments and evidence.
