D makes the most sense. The other answers don't really have much to do with a personality.

To give the reader more information about the character, the author can:

(c) give information about events in a story that are true. These will help to know more about the character if the facts are related to him. For example if they talk about something good or bad done by the character, or describe a particular situation in which the character was present and the reader can appreciate part of the personality.

(d) give information about the social status of the character. In this case the example helps to consider the context surrounding the character. Not so much about his personality since social status does not always affect personality. Rather, personal experiences added to individual characteristics.

What can we infer about general zaroff based on his desire to hunt humans?
Ksivusya [100]
General Zaroff is so skilled at hunting that he no longer finds enjoyment in hunting simple game like deer or ducks because he finds it too easy. He has been hunting for an extensive amount of time and he likes the challenge of hunting game without instinct but with reason. Rainsford is also a very smart and skilled hunter which interests General Zaroff for some exciting game.
