There are 100 runners entered in a marathon. How many different groups of three runners can finish in first, second, and third?

Does this problem involve permutations or combinations?

Any one of the runners could be 1st.
Every runner except for the one that was 1st could be 2nd.
Every runner that wasn't 1st or 2nd could be 3rd.

100*99*98=970200 groups.
This involves permutations because order does matter.

Hope this helps!

Mention the commutativity associative and distributive properties of rational number
evablogger [386]

Answer:

Associative property: a + (b + c), a – (b – c) ≠ (a – b) – c, a × (b × c) = (a × b) × c, and a ÷ (b ÷ c) ≠ (a ÷ b) ÷ c

When a = ½ and b = ¾

Now, for checking a × b = b × a, consider LHS and RHS.

LHS = a × b = ½ × ¾ = ⅜

RHS = b × a = ¾ × ½ = ⅜

Thus, LHS = RHS (Hence proved)

Ryan was traveling by car at an average speed of 40.3 miles per hour.
Ratling [72]

Answer:

your answer is 8

Step-by-step explanation:

If you divide  322.4 by the speed 40.3 you would get 8 the amount of hours traveling the given distance.

If you dont think the answer is correct you can simply mutiply 40.3 by 8 to ensure that 322.4 miles is in fact how far you will go in that time

hope this help. Have a good day!

25. A wheelchair access ramp has an angle of elevation of 16°. If the ramp
Elanso [62]

Answer:

C. 76.81

Step-by-step explanation:

We must use one of the trigonometric ratios to find the length, L,  of the ramp.  If we use 16 as the reference angle, the 22 in would be our opposite side and the ramp length is the adjacent.

Therefore, we must use tan, which is \frac{opposite}{adjacent}:

tan (16)=\frac{22}{L} \\\\L*(tan(16)=22)\\\\L*tan(16)=22\\

\frac{L*tan(16)}{tan(16)}=\frac{22}{tan(16}  \\\\L=79.815=79.82 in.
