Why do authors/writers tend to write about suffering and the angst of life?

The author is trying to connect personally with the reader. They may have experience these kinds of things in their lives and wanting to share them to express their emotions. It also may give the author a sense if peace knowing they can help someone that's going through the same thing. Letting them know that they're not alone.
