Sunlight and nutrient availability are the factors influencing photosynthetic productivity. Plants, fungi, and algae obtain the energy they need to live from photosynthesis. The amount of sunlight and the amount of other nutrients (especially nitrogen, phosphorous and iron) available influence the productivity of organisms through photosynthesis.
