On December 25, 1776, George Washington and the Continental Army crossed the Delaware River into New Jersey in an unexpected assault on the British. They had a conclusive triumph that helped turn the war back to the American's support.

It was the cold of winter. The breeze was blowing and it was snowing. On one side of the Delaware River, George Washington and the Continental Army stayed outdoors. On the opposite side, a British armed force of Hessian troopers held the town of Trenton. It was likewise Christmas and, with a frigid and perilous waterway between the two armed forces, it didn't seem to be multi day for battling. The Hessian troopers most likely idea the exact opposite thing the American Army would do was an assault in these awful conditions.
