I think that swimming speed would be the variation that would be least likely to be passed on to future generations of the species.
This is because color, size, gamete production, are traits that are influenced by the genetic make up of the fish and thus they have a higher likely hood of being passed on to the next generations. On the other had swimming speed may be influenced by the environment as a adaptation for survival by the fish, thus the likely hood of being passed to the next generation is low.

In the structural organization of many eukaryotic genes, individual exons may be related to which of the following?
garri49 [273]

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

The tertiary structure of the protein is made of multiple domains. Every domain of the protein has different function allotted to them.

The exon is the functional part of the genetic material. The exon is part of DNA which encodes for the part of the mature RNA which is being produced once all the introns have been removed after splicing.

It is the main part which decides the respective domain of the functional protein.

Natural selection is completely random?
ale4655 [162]
Yes but no? The genetic variation on which natural selection acts may occur randomly, but natural selection itself is not random at all. ... The survival and reproductive success of an individual is directly related to the ways its inherited traits function in the context of its local environment.

Virty [35]

Answer:

...cells switch to an emergency mode in which the body uses anaerobic metabolism during exercise to provide the necessary fuel for the muscles.

Explanation:

Anaerobic metabolism is the generation of energy by burning carbohydrates in the absence of oxygen. This happens when the lungs cannot place enough oxygen in the bloodstream to meet the energy demands of the muscles. It is used only for short periods of activity.

When there is not enough oxygen in the bloodstream, glucose and glycogen cannot be broken down into carbon dioxide and water. Instead, lactic acid is produced, which can accumulate in the muscles and degrade muscle function.

100 individuals whose genetic makeup is composed of 20% recessive alleles join an established population. The established popula
NeX [460]

Answer:

population = 600

heterozygotes = 2pq

The homozygous recessive percentage = q^{2}

q = 0.1

Solve for q:

∴ q = \sqrt{q}

∴ q = \sqrt{0.10}

∴ q = 0.316

solve for p:

for p + q = 1,

thus p = 1 – q = 1 – 0.316 = 0.684

The heterozygotes = 2pq

2pq =  2 x 0.316 x 0.684 = 0.432

600 x 0.432 = 259.2  = 259

so,  the population reaches Hardy Weinberg equilibrium, 259 of indviduals should be heterozygous for this trait.

Hence, the correct answer is 259 .
