Aunt Juliana is a character in the play Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. Aunt Juliana devotes her life to caring for others, in particular her invalid sister. This also occurs to some extent with George. The incident with the bonnet occurs when Hedda sees Aunt Juliana's bonnet, and pretends that she believes it belongs to a servant, which embarrasses her. This shows that Aunt Juliana most likely believes herself to be inferior to Hedda.
