The framers created the Electoral College, because they didn't trust the people to make electoral decisions on their own. ... The electoral college would be scrapped and the President and Vice President would be elected by direct popular vote. Hope this helps you! Have a wonderful day today!

Answer: Popular Vote meant that the each person would directly vote to select a certain President. Since Northern States had more population, the results would always be skewed in the favor

In effect, this would mean that larger and more populous States of the North would most likely determine the outcome of any election.

Explanation: Southern States comprised of large swathes of land and a majority of the population being farmers.

An electoral college is a system devised to ensure that all States in the union have an equal say in the kind of President they want to select.

Hence, when people vote in the election, they don't directly elect a President, instead electing a local representative who then elects a President on their behalf.

This provided, the smaller states with smaller population an equal say in how the national governement would be run.
