The Missouri Plan is a method that involves the selection of judges. This process begins with a non-partisan commission that reviews candidates for a judicial vacancy. After done that, the commision is in the obligation to send a list of the best candidates to the governor. This last one will have until 60 days to select the most suitable for the posisiton. In the case that the governor did not select the candidates, then the commission will have to decide for him. Finally, after a whole year of service from the new judge, this one will have to stand in a retention selection. This is where the popular vote comes in, here a majority needs to vote in favor or against the retention. If they vote against the retention then the process called as ''Missouri Plan'' begins again.
