Peasants’ War was a revolt that took place in 1524–25 in Germany. Propelled by changes generated by the Reformation, laborers in southern and western Germany summoned divine law to ask agricultural rights and opportunity from abuse by nobles and landowners. As the rebellion grew, laborers began forming militias. Even though the uprising was bolstered by Thomas Müntzer and Huldrych Zwingli, its judgment by Martin Luther added to its annihilation, basically by the military of the Swabian League. Somewhere in the range of 100,000 laborers were slaughtered.
