It could be stated that both characters have a different perspective towards hunting and thay are, at least at the beginning, not alike. As regards Rainsford, who is an avid hunter, it might be said that he believes that men are superior to animals that is why they are preys because they do not have feelings. He sees hunting as a game. On the other hand, Zaroff also thinks that animals are preys and hunting is a game but he got bored of animals because they do not use logic. So he decided to hunt sailors from ships which were trapped on his island. He sustains that sailors do not have rights or feelings because they are weak.

What is the purpose of stage directions?
il63 [147K]
Stage directions are very significant in plays and scripts. They add context to the play and can also help to set the scene. Stage directions can add connotations to the play that may not have been as clear before. For example, in An Inspector Calls, when the ‘lighting turns pink’ this infers that the birlings could be wearing ‘rose tinted glasses’. This further implies that when they are wearing these glasses, they do not see the real world, but when they take them off, they realise that they are not perfect and are not powerful enough to not care about anything serious that happens.
