The one way the Maze Runner and the Hunger Games are notably similar is the "survival" story-line that is implemented but the Maze Runner is more along the lines of a post-apocalypse story. The Hunger Games is more along the lines of a post-war story line but that part of the story (the separation of the Districts) is not seen/told until much later. Also, Both involve the killing of innocent children/adolescents by the authorities in charge as a means to find peace.
