Changes brought about by the acts prevented large farmers from taking lands from smaller farmers.
Small farmers could no longer work on common lands and had to move to cities for work.
Peasants started working on enclosed lands and soon became wealthy because of higher wages.
Landowners forced peasants to build roads and bridges as part of the new enclosure laws.
The main way in which the railroads contributed to the end of the large buffalo herds was that "The railroad tracks were obstacles that the buffalo would not cross". It sounds silly, but the buffalo actually refused to cross the tracks for reasons that are still misunderstood.<span />
