In the Giver what word is considered "too general" and therefore not used in the community?

We are working on that novel now. And i think the word used general is memories, the Reciever of memory and Flashbacks.

They don't use the word 'love'. they think it is too general because it has lost its meaning. instead they say that they care about other people.
