While his work wasn't meant to be recited or sung, he referred to many of his poems as "ballads" for their highly lyrical and dramatic quality. His well known style of gothic writing commonly used concepts of terror, mystery and the supernatural to bring fear and terror to society. Also I think that most writers will have some inspiration when they start out but after a while they will find their “voice” and their own style of writing.
