What topic is Ivan Ilyich thinking about in this excerpt from Leo Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich? But suddenly in the midst

of those proceedings the pain in his side, regardless of the stage the proceedings had reached, would begin its own gnawing work. Ivan Ilyich would turn his attention to it and try to drive the thought of it away, but without success. It would come and stand before him and look at him, and he would be petrified and the light would die out of his eyes, and he would again begin asking himself whether It alone was true.\
A.The pain in his appendix
B.His approaching death
C.His past life
D.his profession

Well, with the lines "and he would again begin asking himself whether it alone was true," you get the idea that he may be talking about his approaching death. It seems that way to me, anyway. B would be the best answer. If you think about, would you focus more on the pain in your appendix or your approaching death? Which is more likely to resonate and have a life-long effect?

Explain how the organizational structure of “The Last Lecture” supports Pausch’s purpose for delivering the lecture.
Ede4ka [16]

Answer:

 • ‘The Last Lecture’, this book written by Randy Pausch will be read by generations to come.
 • It is a story of Randy Pausch himself who was a professor at an University in Pittsburgh.
 • In that university there’s a kind of tradition where professors of that University are told to give a lecture and assume it as if it is the Last lecture of their life. But for Randy, he didn’t even need to assume this, because it was certainly the Last lecture of his life because he was suffering from terminal cancer and he didn’t had much time left.
 • So in a way the organization purpose of Last lecture supported Pausch’s purpose for delivering the lecture, where he gave some of the best life adivces and words of wisdom from his life experience.

What does the phrase "the edge of the sea concerned / with itself" most strongly
exis [7]

Answer:

The phrase "the edge of the sea concerned / with itself" most strongly suggests:

A) The sea continues to break on the shore despite Icarus's drowning.

Explanation:

"Landscape with the Fall of Icarus", by William Carlos Williams, is a poem that describes a painting by Pieter Brueghel. The painting depicts the mythological character Icarus falling from the sky into the ocean as his wax wings are melted by the sun. The poem and the painting convey the same idea that the world goes on without consideration for the suffering of a being. Not one person, one thing, was disturbed by Icarus's fall. As the lines say, "the edge of the sea concerned / with itself", meaning the ocean itself is not disturbed. Icarus has just fallen inside it, but the sea continues to break on the shore as if nothing has happened, as if no one had died.
