One purpose of the Excecutive Branch is to command the armed forces. In fact, the U.S. Constitution proclaims the President of the United States Commander in Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The Legislative Branch is the one in charge of creating and passing new laws. And the Judicial Branch is the one that oversees a system of courts within the U.S. territory and interprets laws made by Congress.
