Include lots of:
Imagery
Detail
Good plot and problem
Organization
Creativity
Word choice (no baby words like destroy or rip, use words like annihilate or shred)
Capturing and interesting intro (like My life was completely normal... Until the storm arose. This makes the reader wonder and want to keep reading)

If you include all of this, you will be fine :)

In the Middle Ages, most people lived in villages and worked as agricultural laborers, or peasants. Every village had a “lord,” and peasants worked on his land. Much of what they produced went to the lord and his family. What little food was leftover went to support the peasants’ families. In return for their labor, the lord offered them protection. A peasant’s day usually began before sunrise and involved long hours of backbreaking work, which included plowing the land, planting seeds, and cutting the crops for harvesting. The working life of a peasant in the Middle Ages was usually demanded and exhausting.

Explain the irony in “to look at him was as edifying as seeing a dog in a parody of breeches and a feather hat, walking on his h
Arlecino [84]

Answer:

The irony is in saying that seeing a dog wearing pants (parody of breeches) was an uplifting or edifying sight which is really not true and which is comical when visualized.

Explanation:

An irony is expressing ones thoughts in words that mean the opposite to achieve humor. The narrator in this instance was looking down on the fireman by comparing him to a dog wearing pants and a feather hat.

He thus compared him to an animal and in the same instance, said that it was an edifying sight. He also called him a fine chap in the same breath. This is quite contradictory and that is how he achieved the use of irony in those lines.
