After the American Revolution first started, Continental Congress decided to raise their own army to stand against Great Britain and obtain their own freedom, this lead to George Washington being in charge of many armed forces. They also decided to boycott all of British goods that were coming in, as a way to get back at Great Britain. This eventually brought colonial unity, all of the states were together to gain their independence and freedom and were ready to fight the British.
