History

The slow development of the railroads in Oklahoma was caused by the peculiar circumstances and the Indian Territories in the state. In 1870 the US had 52 thousand miles of railroads but none of them was in Oklahoma. It was only after the Civil War that the US Government signed a series of treaties with the Indian Nations and the east-west railroad was able to be built by the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway Company.

What does it mean that the Church teaches that sexuality is a gift from God?
love history [14]
I believe that God taught that Adam and Eve were the “right way to have relationships”. Like a man should marry and woman, and a woman should marry a man.
The bible teaches that we cannot marry or have “romantic” relations with a person of the same sex. Any kind of homosexuality on the Bible is considered sin.

How did the black codes provide a steady source of labor for whites who owned farms?
MAVERICK [17]
Forced sharecropping or tenant farming--the black codes created discrimination against blacks preventing them from other jobs or owning land.

The black codes were laws limiting the rights of freedmen and didn't allow for blacks to get land or different jobs. Being land owners still needed labor, free blacks were left with no other option but to continue working the land they had once been enslaved. It led to a system of debt and cycles of poverty which took generations before blacks saw progress.
