The possible additional amount David will spent is c \leq 17

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Let "c" be the additional amount in dollars that David will spent

Given that,

David will spend at most $39 on gifts. So far, he has spent $22

Here, "at most " means that "less than or equal to"

Therefore, we can say,

The amount David has spent and possible additional amounts he will spend must be less than or equal to $39

Thus a inequality is framed as,

Amount David has spent + possible additional amount \leq 39

22 + c \leq 39

Solve the inequality for "c"

Add -22 on both sides

-22+22+c\leq 39-22\\\\c\leq 17

The maximum amount he could spend is $17

The possible amount spent is less than or equal to 17 dollars

hmmm let's find the distance between B and C first off.

~~~~~~~~~~~~\textit{distance between 2 points} \\\\ B(\stackrel{x_1}{2}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{-2})\qquad C(\stackrel{x_2}{-1}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{2})\qquad \qquad d = \sqrt{( x_2- x_1)^2 + ( y_2- y_1)^2} \\\\\\ BC=\sqrt{(~~-1 - 2~~)^2 + (~~2 - (-2)~~)^2} \implies BC=\sqrt{(-1 -2)^2 + (2 +2)^2} \\\\\\ BC=\sqrt{( -3 )^2 + ( 4 )^2} \implies BC=\sqrt{ 9 + 16 } \implies BC=\sqrt{ 25 }\implies BC=5
hmmm if BC is that much, then AB + AC = 7, since AB + AC + BC = 12 which is the perimeter, Check the picture below.
