a<span>nalogy is a </span>comparison<span> between two words. analogies work to describe or explain one thing by examining its similarities with another word. The two things may be very dissimilar and the analogy forces the reader or listener to understand the connection between them. On the other hand the analogy could provide a comparison between two very similar things, one of which might be more obscure; the analogy provides a way for a reader or listener to understand the more obscure thing by picturing the more common thing.</span>

Read the paragraph and choose True 10
lozanna [386]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

The statement that Majed was six years old when his family moved to Jeddah is false.

In the first sentence of the passage, we are told that Majed was born in Jeddah (<em>Majed Abdullah was born in Jeddah on</em>...). In the second sentence, we are told that, when he was six years old, his family moved to Riyadh (<em>When he was  six, his father got a job as a coach of the Al- Nassr youth team and the family moved to  Riyadh</em>). If the statement contained information about his family moving to Riyadh, it would've been correct.

mario62 [17]

Answer:

D. He doesn't always agree with the choices of who is honored by the public.

Explanation:

This excerpt is from Jonathan Swift's (1667 – 1745) satirical article "A Modest Proposal" - <em>for preventing the children of poor people in Ireland, from being a burden on their parents or country, and for making them beneficial to the publick.</em>

Option C states almost the same thing as in option D. But option D better explains the situation.

There is also a sharp sense of satire in author's usage of words "fair, cheap and easy". Jonathan Swift's satire is aimed toward government whose policies even in matters of such great importance are economy centered.
