The Student Non- Violent Coordinating Committee was instituted in the April of 1960 for backing the free countenance on civil rights reforms among the African Americans of the United States. Bob Moses, Marion Barrer, and James Forman were the prior chief of the Committee during its participation of Washington in March 1963. The only state that was not true about the committee was that it has ever allied with the “Black Power Movement”.  

The “Black power movement” was prevalent during the 1970s targeting the social and political movement advocating the radical pride, equality, and self-sufficiency of the African descent. They promoted black collective interest and emphasized on advancing their values. They showed their protest by raising their left hand as it was their traditional way of salute. It is believed that the movement would have started at the Shaw University of Raleigh to consolidate the structure of the Civil Rights Movement.
