Rotate the axes to eliminate the xy-term in the equation. Then write the equation in standard form.
kirill115 [55]

Answer:

\dfrac{x'^2}{2}-\dfrac{y'^2}{2}=1

Step-by-step explanation:

The rotation by angle \theta formulas are

\left\{\begin{array}{l}x=x'\cos \theta-y'\sin \theta\\y=x'\sin \theta+y' \cos \theta\end{array} \right.

To eliminate the xy-term, we have to rotate by 45°, so

\left\{\begin{array}{l}x=x'\cos 45^{\circ}-y'\sin 45^{\circ}\\y=x'\sin 45^{\circ} +y' \cos 45^{\circ}\end{array} \right.

\left\{\begin{array}{l}x=x'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}-y'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\\y=x'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2} +y' \dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\end{array} \right.

Substitute them into the equation xy+1=0:

\left(x'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}-y'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\right)\cdot \left(x'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}+y'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\right)+1=0\\ \\\left(x'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\right)^2 -\left(y'\dfrac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\right)^2+1=0\\ \\\dfrac{x'^2}{2}-\dfrac{y'^2}{2}=1

A random sample of 5200 permanent dwellings on an entire reservation showed that 1571 were traditional hogans.
quester [9]
P^ = 1571/5200 = 0.3021

99% C I = 0.3021 + or - 2.58sqrt((0.3021(1 - 0.3021))/5200) = 0.3021 + or - 0.0064 = 0.296 to 0.309
lower limit = 0.296
upper limit = 0.309

Deisha can build a fence in 15 hours, and Travis can build a fence in 12 hours. How long will it take them together to build a f
Basile [38]

Answer:

6\frac{2}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Deisha's build rate = 1 fence per 15 hours = 1/15 fences per hour

Travis's build rate = 1 fence per 12 hours = 1/12 fences per hour

Working together, their combined rate is 1/15 + 1/12 = 3/20 fences per hour

So it takes them 20/3 = 6 2/3 hours per fence
