Explanation:

Citation is one of the most crucial aspects of the writing process to display the references to the sources that have been used in the work. It allows the authors to not only support the validity of their claim but also to establish its credibility.

As per the question, a web article in MLA format adopts is cited in the given format:

'The Author's name, name of the article in quotes, title or heading of the web magazine, name of the publication, date of publication, URL, and lastly, the access date.'

Since Option A correctly follows this format, this is the answer.

Read the line from Grendel.
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

Explanation:

He describes the length of the men’s decision-making process. - This is not the right answer. While Grendel writes they met for many nights, this is not the point of the sentence nor his perspective.

He describes the way the men socialize and relax together. - This is not true. The sentence talks about Hrothgar‘s meetings with the council and decision making.

He thinks that the men’s religious behavior is strange and interesting. - This is the correct answer. Grendel describes their statues of gods as „curious … creatures“ and both of these words suggest that he finds them strange, weird, but also interesting and worthy of notice.

He thinks that Hrothgar is a strong leader who will challenge any opponent. - This is not the correct answer. We do not see Grendel expressing thought about Hrothgar‘s leadership.

Which sentence is CORRECT and does not contain a dangling modifier? A) Feeling anxious, holding still was difficult. B) Screamin
JulsSmile [24]

C) The bookshelves swayed with the weight of their load.

A dangling modifier is a description that seems to be connected to the wrong noun grammatically. Sometimes they are hard to spot since our brains make the connection for us, but if you read the sentence exactly as it is, you will notice it. Option A is wrong because the modifier is "feeling anxious", but we don't know who or what is feeling anxious. Our brains know that it is the person who is having to hold still, but there is no person in the sentence. Option B is not correct because the modifier "screaming" is close to the noun "raft" in the sentence. We know that a raft cannot scream therefore the modifier is not in the right place. Option D's modifier is "missing my family". In the sentence the modifier seems to be modifying dormitory, but this doesn't make sense since a dormitory doesn't have a family or the capability to miss one.

Short-response prompt (15 points) Read the following passage from the beginning of Stephen Crane's 1897 story "The Open Boat." I
Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

Two themes to be explored could be madness/doom and survival.

Explanation:

Madness: when the line separating reality from imagination is blurred, people begin to act strangely, madly, and loose the ability to cope with feelings of anxiety or desperation in a coherent, healthy way.

- Why will this situation be developed? The situation of the four stranded seamen is condemned to become cahotic if their circumstances remained unchanged. The captain is already showing signs of desperation and paranoia in the form of a "stern impression of a scene in the grays of dawn...".

Survival: when people find themselves in life or death situations, a number of psycological mechanisms begin to activate to ensure survival: among them an increased sense of competitiveness. Also, people tend to become more resourceful to maximize the odds of preserving life, yet they also turn more viscious and territorial.

- Why will this situation be developed? The story is about four men stranded at sea, and though we lack information regarding their specific circumstances (food, supplies, tools), it is clear that their lives are at stake. The laws that rule society apply differently when the only concern is to remain alive and the circumstances are extreme.
