Which of the following elements does not contribute to the dreary mood of this short passage from the novel Bleak House by Charl

es Dickens? "Fog on the Essex marshes, fog on the Kentish heights. Fog creeping into the cabooses of collier-brigs; fog lying out on the yards, and hovering in the rigging of great ships; fog drooping on the gunwales of barges and small boats. Fog in the eyes and throats of ancient Greenwich pensioners, wheezing by the firesides of their wards; fog in the stem and bowl of the afternoon pipe of the wrathful skipper; fog cruelly pinching the toes and fingers of his shivering little 'prentice boy on deck." The use of the infinitive was the lacking element that did not contribute to the maintenance of the gloomy and sad mood of the passage. The verbs are in a natural state and they do not give rise to the feeling of sadness. The elements which gave a static character are the adjectives and the punctuation.

Answer:

The element that does not contribute to the dreary mood in this short passage from the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens. Is:

Infinitives

Explanation:

There are two reasons behind this. First of all, infinitives explain the action and communicate that it is continuous. While it doesn't provide any stylistic device to the paragraph. This is important because stylistic devices are the ones used to provide the mood. Second, adjectives are used to explain the form of something, repetition to explain the importance of something, and punctuation to emphasize different parts of the text. While Infinitives only explain what something does.

Answer:

Outside I'm silver

Inside I'm gold

If you broke me in half

Would I still be as bold

Avarice, a dream

Everything in green, sold

If you broke us in half

Would you still be as cold

With wealth to be rechanged

Or greed to be rearranged

harkovskaia [24]

Answer:

C

Explanation:

Harriet Tubman was a famous ex-slave and abolitionist. She is well known for her work in the underground railroad which was a group of safe houses that helped slaves escape from the south and seek refuge in the north.

A book about famous abolitionists would be the most useful as A would be biased, B has nothing to do with the topic, and D has nothing to do with the topic.
