After the death of Ur Nammu, the Sumerians city-states began to fight, weakening everything. It would be easy for enemies to come in and take power-and that's exactly what happened. In 1720 BC, the last Sumerian king was defeated, and Hammurabi took power, making Sumer part of the Babylonian Empire. Hope this could help! :D
