Which stylistic devices are used in these lines?
nadezda [96]
Metonymy
Personification
Simile
Paradox
Before we can decide which of the above literary devices Milton used in his poem, On His Being Arrived to the Age of Twenty-Three (1631), we must first understand all of our options.

First, let's consider metonymy. Metonymy means to substitute one word for another which has attributes associated with the overall idea being conveyed. For example, when we say, "He was fishing for information," the word "fishing" represents stealth and the idea of someone slyly collecting information by luring out what they want to know. Other examples of metonymy are, "She really hogged the microphone!" and, "The pen is mightier than the sword."

The second option, personification, is a technique whereby an author turns a thing or an idea into a person by giving it human qualities or personality traits. Things in nature are oftentimes personified in poetry and prose. Some good examples of personification are, "The sun smiled upon the fields," and "The angry ocean swallowed the ship whole."

Why do you think other cultures push back against eL Seed's writing style (Arabic)?
Greeley [361]

Answer:

This is the answer

Explanation:

Artist eL Seed fuses the beauty of Arabic letters with the modern art of graffiti — an art form he calls calligraffiti. He paints colorful, undulating messages of hope and peace on buildings all over the world — from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, to the bridges of Paris (the city where he was born), to the minaret of the mosque in Gabès, Tunisia (his family’s hometown).

We caught up with eL Seed a few weeks ago in Shoreditch, London, where he was painting a large-scale mural as part of the Shubbak Festival — his first UK commission. As he worked high above the street in a cherry-picker lift, the spectacle of his painting slowed traffic and drew a crowd of pedestrians. He took a break to talk to the TED Blog about growing up as an Arab in Paris, and how becoming a graffiti artist who uses Arabic script has shifted his perception of who he is.
