The scientific definition of energy that relates it to work is the following: Energy is the capacity to do <em>work</em>. There are various forms of energy, of which work is one. It may manifest itself as mechanical energy. All forms of energy are associated with motion, it is transferred from one form to another.

This wealth resulting from proceeds of sales of products and services were then accumulated mostly in gold, silver and precious metals, known as bullion. The exportation of finished goods were favored over others like farming and agriculture.

This type of economic policy is generally considered as outdated.
