I happen to use this first Harry Potter book in one of my creative writing classes because you can learn so much about story structure from it. As Clarence explained well, the main conflict (the "dramatic question") revolves around the Sorceror's Stone of the title, yet a big goal of the book is to introduce the world of Hogwarts. The challenge here was to make the book dramatic even though the main antagonist, Voldemort, is not in Harry's face until near the end. The way she does it is come up with other, lesser antagonists, including the Dursleys, Draco Malfoy, some of the professors, especially Snape, and Harry's opponents in Quidditch.

Alla [95]

Answer:

Hello, this is Harry Potter. The date is 5/12/1999.

After the discovery of Tom Riddle's diary, I decided I ought to do some writing myself. For all I know Lucius Malfoy will have me murdered by tomorrow for giving that bloody sock to Dobby. I don't deserve it, Dobby tried to have me killed twenty times this year. At least. But I'm finished with this whole saving the world scam. Voldemort is gone. I need to focus on my education... Or at least that's what Hermione says.

I've finished exams and am supposed to be packing, but I bought this in Hogsmeade and figured I ought to make my first entry. I'll be stuck going back to the Dursley's for the summer, and I'm not thrilled but at least I'll still have a wand to wave and a school to look forward to returning to. I thought for sure that I'd be expelled after the flying car.

Well, Hermione and Ron are having a row again, I ought to go sort them out... til tomorrow then,

Hope this helps :)

The answer is emjabment. Based on the lines from Patricia Jabbeh Wesley's "One Day", it can be seen that she uses enjabment when creating her own structure. Enjabment, in poetry, refers to the continuation of one poetic line to the next line without the use of punctuation.

How does the author support the claim that the President has an "enlarging scope of responsibilities" (Paragraph 2)?
ANEK [815]

Answer:

The author support the claim that the President has an "enlarging scope of responsibilities" is explained below in details.

Explanation:

The Constitution explicitly authorizes the president the authority to approve or veto the law, order the armed troops, ask for the drafted evaluation of their Cabinet, assemble or dismiss Congress, grant pardons and forgiveness, and receive ambassadors. The President is accountable for accomplishing and administering the laws written by Congress and, to that end, designates the heads of the national bureaus, including the Cabinet.
