Answer:

The connotation of the word "towering" is intimidating.

Explanation:

As we know, words have denotation and connotation. Denotation refers to a word's literal, original meaning. Connotation, on the other hand, refers to a secondary meaning, a meaning that comes up according to the context.

The adjective "towering" originally means "very tall". In the context of the passage we are studying here, the meaning goes beyond that. The roller coaster is indeed very tall. But that is not all Cecelia sees while looking at it. She is intimidated by the roller coaster. She is afraid and does not wish to ride it. That is the connotation of "towering" in this context. The roller coaster's dimensions are scary, intimidating.

                                                                                      13th September 2021.

Dear Daniel,

It feels good to write you again. How are you doing? I hope your studies are going on well, and you are coping with the winter there in America. I am so excited about the new house that Papa just built and I can't wait to share the interesting details with you.

Last month, the duplex which has been an ongoing project was completed by our father. We moved in early this month it has really been fun living here. The house is made up of seven bedrooms with five upstairs and the remaining two downstairs. One of the two rooms downstairs is meant for the visitors while the other is for the domestic staff. I have one room upstairs and the room adjacent to mine was reserved for you. Papa and Mama have two rooms to themselves while Jessica stays in the one close to the main hall.

This house is very magnificent! The floor is fitted with white tiles, the ceiling has a beautiful POP while the paintings are beautifully and artistically done. We are now the talk of the town! Our new neighbors cannot help admiring our house and we have had a number of them coming in to have a better view. I love the new house and I believe you will love it too.

I am so proud of our dad! I can't wait for you to come back and tour the house. I just wanted to share the tip of the iceberg with you. More details will be shared in the next letter. Till then.

Love,

Betty.
