Jim is painting the inside of a circular helicopter pad. How many cans of paint would he need if the pad is 50 feet across and each can of paint covers about 200ft^2?

STEP 1:
You need to find the area of the circular pad.

Circle Area= πr^2
we need the radius which is half of the diameter given
=π(50÷2)^2
=(3.14)(25)^2
=(3.14)(625)
=1,963.495 ft^2 total area

STEP 2:
Find how much paint is needed by dividing a can's coverage into what's needed.

=1963.495 ÷ 200
=9.817
=10 cans are needed (because you cannot buy a part of a can, you need to round up)

ANSWER: 10 cans are needed
