India is a South Asian country. It is the second-most populous country in the world with over one billion inhabitants. It borders with Bangladesh, Myanmar, China, Pakistan, Bhutan and Nepal. To the south is the Indian Ocean and its neighbours Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The capital is New Delhi, and Mumbai is also one of the most important city centres.
The military stalemate had several consequences. It made the Confederates lose morale due to the fact that they were exhausting their efforts by always being prepared to fight but not actually doing so.
