Do you think that our correctional system should be primarily punitive or primarily rehabilitative? Explain.

I think that the correctional system should be primarily rehabilitative however I still believe that individual confinement is important. By implanting a rehabilitative system i think that  there is a lower chance of repeat felonies. Another issue that would be addressed with a rehabilitative program is wrongful imprisonment such as in situations where the supposed criminal was framed. The punitive correctional system has ancient statutes and is not up to date with the more open minded thinking of today.
