Waves of transformation in Texas included cotton cattle and oil industry. Oil first strike in spindle top transformed Texas from an agriculture state to an industrial state, a petroleum power house. The oil was found on UT lands and this developed into a permanent university fund, wealthy oil men created charitable foundations for arts, education and social services which greatly benefited higher education.
