Mccain's essay was very exaggerating to me and managed to extend my concept of patriotism, thus leaving the concept more complete and efficient. Before reading the essay, I believed that patriotism is related exclusively to the feeling of love for the country, within that feeling it was not correct to criticize and not support certain elements, but just to love the country unconditionally. MacCain's essay showed me that criticism of the country is part of patriotism, because it is through criticism that we recognize the defects that our society has and that need to be changed. This is able to motivate us to fight for a better country. Striving for improvement represents love for the country and that represents patrotism.
The "two parts ABCs" allusion refers to the fundamental school setting. The author wants the readers to understand how the school system prioritizes planned lessons and have students memorize information that they believe will most likely not be utilized later in life. The author expresses that this is a small part of the school experience. They also use the allusion "Where Do I Stand in the Great Pecking Order of Humankind" to refer to how teenager worrying about where they fit in. The author states that part of the majority of the school experience is finding your place in it socially.

In this Kafka's masterpiece, Gregor Samsa wakes up one morning only to realize he had turned into a huge insect out of the blue.
a) Grete’s insistence near the end of the story that it would be best for her family to get rid of Gregor, and her claim that “it” was not her brother anymore depicts BETRAYAL.
Here, Gregor's younger sister denounces her brother making a change-of-hearts compared to the first half of the novel.
b) Mr. Samsa’s physical abuse of Gregor with the apple, which severely injures him and limits his ability to move is PERSECUTION.

Turning to an insect has cost Gregor, anong other things, his ability to speak. That way he can not communicate with his family members and is unable to explain this strange situation. That leaves him alone in his room isolated with his thoughts.
