You can solve with many ways but I'll do this one instead. Move 12 to the left side and change from positive to negative.

2x^2-2x-12=0\\

Then divide by 2 whole equation.

\frac{2x^2-2x-12}{2}=\frac{0}{2}

Simplify, as we get  x^2-x-6=0

We can either use Quadratic Formula or Factoring the Polynomials. It depends but since the polynomial aren't that hard to factor because it doesn't have that many numbers in value. So using factoring will be faster.

From x^2-x-6=0 we can factor as -

(x-3)(x+2)=0\\x-3 =0, x+2=0\\x=3, x=-2\\(x=3,-2)#

Thus, the value of x is 3 or -2. So x = 3, -2 is the answer.

<em>Note that we can also use Quadratic Formula to solve the equation, however that will take longer than factoring then solve the equation.</em>

Solve y (1/2)y+6=(3/4)y–4
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

Y = 40

Step-by-step explanation:

Change 1/2 to 2/4

2/4 y + 6 = 3/4y - 4

subtract 2/4y

6 = 1/4y -4

add 4

10 = 1/4y

multiply by 4 to get fraction to 1y or y

y = 40

Write a decimal that the model represents
anastassius [24]

Answer:

<em>number = 0.011</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Decimal Representation</u>

The model is shown in the figure. It has a form of a cube where each face is divided into 10 equal squares, forming a 10x10x10=1,000 smaller cubes piece.

Out of that 1,000 cubes, only 11 are shaded. This leaves us to think the decimal represented by the model is the division between the shaded cubes by the total cubes, thus:

number= \frac{11}{1,000}

Dividing:

number = 0.011
