An impressionist painting of a pond full of waterlilies is unmistakably the work of <em>a) Claude Monet</em>. Monet was a French painter, father of French Impressionist paintings. Impressionist painters wanted to express nature as it impressed them. Monet purchased a house and gardens in Giverny and he painted the water lily ponds which became the subjects of his most famous works.
