In the 1960s, Eleanor Gibson and Richard Walk carried out a visual cliff experiment to study depth perception in human infants and animals. The study aimed to find whether the ability of an infant to perceive depth is an acquired behavior or inherent. the conclusion was that depth perception emerged in infants at the time when they start crawling however fear of height developed at the infancy stage.
