2. Read the following excerpt from Ray Bradbury's "The Pedestrian":
natita [175]

The story is ironic as it is a crime to go outside for no reason based on the information illustrated.

How to explain the story?

In its broadest sense, irony is a description of a circumstance that shows how what initially seems to be the case contrasts significantly with what is actually the case. Irony is a crucial literary device and rhetorical tactic.

It should be emphasized that watching television while sitting at home eliminates the need to go for a stroll. Additionally, there is no need for outside air when everyone's homes are already full with it. Ironically, walking outside is against the law.

There is no room for anything else, including thinking, in our world since everyone is so preoccupied with watching television. This tale explores a dystopian future where watching television has become so idolized that engaging in any other activity is considered wrong.

Like earlier stories by Bradbury, this one serves as a cautionary tale about the perils of becoming overly fixated on technology

Although, once he is up against Rainsford, Zaroff begins to cheat at his own game by bringing out his bodyguard and his pack or dogs into the hunting grounds with him.
