Which sentences in these excerpts reflect the idea that war affects not only the minds of the combatants but also their physical

reactions? Ambush by Tim O'Brien (excerpt) There was no sound at all--none that I can remember. In a way, it seemed, he was part of the morning fog, or my own imagination, but there was also the reality of what was happening in my stomach. I had already pulled the pin on a grenade. I had come up to a crouch. It was entirely automatic. I did not hate the young man; I did not see him as the enemy; I did not ponder issues of morality or politics or military duty. I crouched and kept my head low. I tried to swallow whatever was rising from my stomach, which tasted like lemonade, something fruity and sour. I was terrified. There were no thoughts about killing. The grenade was to make him go away--just evaporate--and I leaned back and felt my mind go empty and then felt it fill up again. Symptoms by John Steinbeck (excerpt) They would discuss their experiences right up to the time of battle and then suddenly they wouldn't talk anymore. This was considered heroic in them. It was thought that they had seen or done was so horrible that they didn't want to bring it back to haunt them or their listeners. But many of these men had no such consideration in any other field. Only recently have I found what seems to be a reasonable explanation, and the answer is simple. They did not and do not remember--and the worse the battle was, the less they remember. In all kinds of combat the whole body is battered by emotion. The ductless glands pour their fluids into the system to make it able to stand up to the great demand on it. Fear and ferocity are products of the same fluid.

balu736 [363]

Answer:

After reading the passage, I see how the author uses connotations and figurative language to make his experience come to life. The author uses a mix of postive and negitive connotations like "fast" as a positive connotation, and "lighting" as a negitive connotation. Though the author is using negitive connotation in the paragraph, the story itself is not meant to be negitive, rather exciting and uses figurtative language as a description. This is expressed through the phrases like, "electric fight" but the author hints at what they mean through the following context clues like, " for us to turn on and off as we please." Which indicated a light swich, and the electric that "fighting" through it. This make it feel like not just a light swich or power, but an electric storm that comes to life!

How much of a problem do you thick in cyber-bullying is?<br>
just olya [345]

Answer:

A complicated issue

Explanation:

Cyber-bullying is a 4.0 era problem. It doesn't mean that it's insoluble, but it means that many people have not yet adapted to its existence.

Frankly speaking, human, ever since the birth of verbal language, have always had the so-called "joy" of bullying others, in one way or another.

The modern civilisations have taught people to extinguish such awful and fleeting habits, but under different pressures , some still make use of bullying as a means to entertain. Especially with the invention of the Internet and social media, cyber-bullying became popular, as bullies can "enjoy" their anonymity together with bullied's bewilderedness. The main goal of the practice of cyber-bullying is not only to assault the victim verbally, but also to attract attentions and create scandals. If before, bullies would only imagine of humiliating their victims within a certain group , cyber-bullies nowadays are capable of spreading words across the globe, making their victims look like an outcast of the society.

Cyber-bullying is not restricted to a classroom or school campus. It is now a thing even with some elders. Thus, the effect cyber-bullying has on victims is much more severe. Victims realised they are criticized of both those acquaintances and strangers who are completely unaware of their situations. They would be very much intimidated by the idea that there is a probabilty someone would pick them, if they ever go out for just a walk, or go shopping, or even travel to another country. What is worse, they would have to face the downfall of many personal relationships. Friends and family members, those who they love and those who love them, might have a different attitude to them. Cybet-bullied victims, would have to face a great challenge of social loneliness if not offered help.

To resolve the problem of cyber-bullying, well, there is yet to be any powerful solutions. One way to deal with it is through education. Children are vulnerable to factors they meet in life, so it's crucial for parents, classes and society to teach students to refrain from the act of bullying, not only because it causes harm to other people, but also to themselves and their loved ones. Another way is , sadly ,to adapt to the problem. Social media may offer their best to censor toxic contents, but never would it be fast ,or strong enough. Infomation is being spread at a clicked of the mouse, making it almost instantneous for a post to be seen by hundreds of people. We cannot yet to extinguish dark sides in people's mind for now, or very likely in the next centuries, but it does not mean we cannot reinforce our own defences against the negativity. It should be considered an essential skills to learn to ignore the influence of negative criticism.
