In the first stanza from the"The Solitary Reaper" , Wordsworth 's expresses his surprise at listening to a country girl singing beautifully. He feels attracted to the combination of nature and human activity: singing."....O listen! for the Vale profound // Is overflowing with the sound..." These lines exemplify the merger of nature and human activity.

In the second stanza, he compares the lonely girl's song to the song of different birds: nightingale and the cuckoo. He expresses his attraction towards the power of the girl's song. Her song is more beautiful and powerful than the birds': "....No Nightingale did ever chaunt// More welcome notes to weary bands.." Wordsworth reflects his appeal to the fact that nature inspires the human soul.

Based on details in paragraphs 6 and 7 about how the lottery has changed over time, the reader can conclude that,
Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

C). The Villagers made adjustments to the lottery as the population grew.

Explanation:

In the short story titled 'The Lottery' penned by Shirley Jackson, paragraphs 6 and 7 offer the details which suggest that 'the villagers made adjustments to the lottery as the population grew.' This deduction is substantiated through the descriptions like 'so much of the ritual had been forgotten or discarded ... paper slips substituted the wooden chips as the population had grown and the chips need to fit in the black box.' The lapsing of rituals like 'swearing-in ceremony, a recital by the lottery official, a ritual salute, etc. further substantiate that the adjustments in the lottery have been made with the growth of the population. Thus, option C is the correct answer

Write a compare and contrast essay explaining how Poe drew upon the history of the Inquisition in his short story “The Pit and t
ololo11 [35]

Answer:

The Inquisition is the historical context that frames Poe’s short story.

Explanation:

The unnamed narrator has been sentenced to death and relates his violent experience, which despite being a fictional account of an unlikely event, it´s an accurate depiction of how violent the Inquisition was. In this sense, Inquisition is a great subject or setting for the genre of horror, given its explicitly violent events, which Poe enhances to conceive a suspenseful story, with only an implicit political agenda to condemn the Inquisition.
