A disease caused by a pathogen which is transmitted from person to person or from one host to another is called communicable. When a person steps on a rusty nail, the spores of Clostridium tetani enter the body and cause tetanus characterized by muscular spasms. Since Clostridium tetani is not transmitted directly from an infected person to a healthy person, tetanus is considered a non-communicable disease.
