You probably believe that Earth is spherical. But as we look around, it certainly appears that Earth is flat. One classmate suggests that if you call someone on the 'other side' of the world by phone, they can verify that it is midnight there when it is noon here. Another student reminds you of the picture taken of the spherical Earth from the moon landing. Your teacher explains the ancient observation that when the Sun was directly overhead on one day near the equator, a pole some hundreds of miles away to the north still cast a shadow. What, then, is the best scientific basis for considering that Earth is spherical?
i put:Reasoning must be used to arrive at a model that best fits the observations.

the questions above need to be checked and the questions below need answering:

Which statement about natural selection is true?
STatiana [176]

Answer: c.Natural selection is the process by which organisms with more beneficial traits are more likely to survive and reproduce.

Natural selection is the differential survival and reproduction of individuals because of differences in the phenotype. Phenotypic characteristics favors the survival of some organisms in the population better than others. Example given by Darwin population of colored beetles green and red belonging to same species. Green ones mimic the color of grass not noticed by birds but red ones were noticed and eaten by birds. This is the selection by nature for better suited individuals. Green color gave the survival advantage to these beetles which is a phenotypic characteristic therefore, they will produce more offsprings than the red ones and also pass on the phenotypic trait to their offsprings.

Without the presence of sea otters, sea urchins would otherwise overgraze kelp beds, dramatically changing the marine community
densk [106]
I think it is keystone. If they were not there the population of urchins would go up and the kelp would go down.

Which claim is best supported by the information about scales and feathers?
alexandr402 [8]

Answer:

Recent evidence suggest that feathers evolved from scales and suggest that 'feathers and pycnofibers' could be homologous.

Explanation:

 • One of the major difficult issue related to bird evolution is the evolution of feathers.
 • Feathers are considered as the most 'complex integumentary structures' which are found in vertebrates.
 • Evolutionary developmental biology suggests that the 'planar scale structure' is been modified for developing into feathers by 'splitting' to form web like structures.
 • Scales and Feathers consist of 'two distinct form of keratin' so it was thought that 'each type was exclusive skin structure' but recent study suggests that they are developmental expressions of same skin structures.
