The answer is A.
North wasn't good farm land like the south was. It wasn't all tobacco and cotton. There was the bread basket states ( North and South Carolina) I might be wrong but I think up north was a lot of clay and it wasn't good for farming in a large scale. That's when subsistence farming came into play. The answer is A based on the geography of the two areas (North and South) one area was better for farming than the other. Hope I helped.

Which of the causes do you feel that led to the civil war the most? Explain why?(2-3 sentences)
nirvana33 [79]
Abraham Lincoln winning the President contributed most to the Civil War. After he won the election, southerners were scared that Lincoln would try to get rid of slavery and change their traditions. Once Abe Lincoln was elected, states started to secede (like South Carolina) from the Union just a couple months later. This secession ultimately lead to the confrontation at Fort Sumter, leading to the start of the Civil War.
