A simile is defined as "a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid" Based on this, it might be said that there is a comparison between the narrator and two birds. It might be understood that he tends to use things from other people and he gives them credit for.
