Nationalism is the belief and movement that encourages the interests of a particular nation (a group of people), chiefly with the aim of gaining and continuing the nations sovereignty (self governance) over its homeland. Nationalism stands to the fact that each nation should govern itself, at liberty from from outside interference (self-determination), that a nation that is in accordance with nature and ideal basis for a polity, and that the nation is the only legal source of political power.

<u>Imperialism </u>

Imperialism is a strategy or belief of increasing a country's rules over foreign nations, often by military force or by obtaining political and economic leverage of other areas. Imperialism was both standard and common worldwide throughout recorded history, the untimely examples dating from the mid-third millennium BC. Recently, it has been considered morally discreditable and prohibited by international law. Therefore,its definition is used in international propaganda to condemn and opponent's foreign strategy.

<u>How is Imperialism and Nationalism dependent on one another?</u>

Nationalism and Imperialism are often similar(related).Nationalism, in short, is taking pride in one's country but with the exclusion of other foreign nationalists, this can be closely linked to dictatorship. Imperialism, in short, is a nations pursues to expand and attain control over other countries with the aim of gaining raw materials and trade markets, forcefully.

In powerful countries, nationalism can lead to imperialism. If a country feels nationalistic, they might start to want to show that their country is better that the others. One way to prove this is by taking an empire.
