What can be done about global warming? This was one of the questions debated at the scouting jamboree held in Dubai. Last August, the jamboree was attended by scouts from Sri Lanka and several Gulf states. Each of the countries attending,  selected a speaker and the competition was fierce. Farida Syed from the 22nd Boston Scout Group was awarded the Jones Cup for best speaker. Well done, Farida.

There are three candidates for the election in my class.

One of them, Aaliyah, was on the council last year.

Nobody  wants her to stand again as she always tries to do things in her own way.

Most of us want Tariq to win because he  listens to what others say.

I don't think many people want Jamila to represent us. She never says what she is really  thinking.

Our teacher, Mr. Khan, has explained that we must decide for ourselves the student we are voting for.

He says it's important that the whole class votes on Thursday.
