Approximately how quickly do the Earth's crustal plates move? A. A few centimeters a year B. A few centimeters a month C. A few
aliya0001 [1]

The correct answer is - A. A few centimeters a year.

Earth's crustal plates move very slowly, between 2 cm and 5 cm (depending on the plate) annually. This is the reason why it takes millions of years for them to significantly change their position, and with it the appearance of our planet. These crustal plates are slowly moving around the planet because they are powered by flow in the interior mantle.

Research and produce a summary about the history of the microscope.
svetlana [45]
Microscopes have been used for centuries in order to see specimen scientists cannot see with their unaided eye. Antón VanLeeonhoeuk is given credit for designing the first lenses for microscopes in the 16th century. He looked at “animacules” which we would now call bacteria and protists. Robert Hooke first coined the term cell, as he looked at cork and thought it looked like cells that monks slept in. Improvements were made in the following centuries, and Ernest Leintz in the 1800s creates a way to have differing magnification lenses on one microscope. Continuing into the 1900s and 2000s there are now electron scanning microscopes, ultraviolet microscopes, atomic force microscopes, and electron tunneling microscopes—all which allow scientists to have better resolution and to see smaller and smaller things. Microscope technology will continue to improve as scientists discover more ways to magnify the microscopic world.

An organism's genome is analyzed and found to contain 18% guanine. What percentage of that organism's DNA is adenine?
Oxana [17]

Answer:

32%

Explanation:

According to Chargaff in his complementary base pairing rule, he stated that the proportion of purine and pyrimidine bases is equal to 100%

That is, A + T + G + C = 100%

Where A=T and G=C i.e the proportion of each base pair is equal.

Hence, if the Guanine content is 18%, it means the Cytosine content of that DNA molecule must also be 18%. Therefore:

18 + 18 + A + T = 100

A + T = 100 - 36

A + T = 64

If the sum proportion of Adenine and Thymine is 64% and each must contain equal proportions, A or T = 64/2 = 32

Hence, Adenine contains 32%, likewise Thymine.
